Monument Valley Tribal Park will be hosting a 'balloon event' on April 2 & 3 this year.

The setting sure makes a nice backdrop for the ballons, depending upon wind direction. Wonder where the launch sites will be?
I suspect that it would be in the vicinity of the mittens...just a hunch.

I've shot the Bluff balloon festival in Valley of the Gods. It's a neat backdrop. Monument Valley would be nice too. Thanks for the info.

Looks like sunrise will be about 7 AM, but the park road supposedly won't open to drive east until 8 AM. Would be cool to get balloon in front of the Mittens at sunrise.

I called and found that the valley road would be closed from 6:30-7:30 AM, the launching will be from various points, and the "campground" will be open for camping.
