Okay, it was a new term to me, too, but David Pogue's article is good, even if it isn't just about nature photography. Especially the paragraph on "Chimping."

Good shooting this weekend, everyone.

Good article!
I'm definitely guilty of "chimping" - and I'm not going to give anything away - you guys have to read the article for yourself!

Thanks for the article. I'm guilty of chimping - but it's usually due to a lack of patience vs. wanting to see the results right away. So let's say I have a subject that is being patient and I shoot for a couple minutes and it's still there but not doing anything interesting... sure enough I'll look at the LCD and when I look up it flew off or did something cool that I missed. Live and learn

I can't chimp with 4x5 sheet film.

Interesting idea about using your hand for 'gauging the wrap'.

A good read Jim. Besides the chimping I love how he fooled the stock photo company with a lower megapixel image than what the file said, how cool!

You have to keep your eyes on the histogram to get top quality files. That's why I chimp.

OK, I admit it.
I've been known to set up my 8x10 in the backyard just so I can look at the ground glass and chimp.
