I contacted Graham County AZ to see if the amazing wildflower display that occurred laast year at this time would repeat. Apparently it is a no-go this year thanks to very dry conditions

I spoke with a friend at Boyce Thompson Arboretum. He said what few rains we received were not at the right times either. When I drove to Phoenix from Flagstaff this past weekend, blooms were very sparce in the desert. http://www.desertusa.com/wildflo/az.html
According to the nps site, Death Valley is also sparse this year...

There were some wildflowers blooming along the roadside between Florence Junction and Florence. No wildflowers were visible while searching around Tucson today. Hedgehog cactus blooms were visible.
