My family is discussing where to go during the Easter break. I have taken 2 weeks off to visit our sons in London. One of them suggested that we go to Iceland. Iceland? what is there to do there? This just shows my ignorance about the place. Pardon me if there are any icelander on NPN.
Have anyone been to Iceland and is it a tourist destination you can recommend? Better still, are there any must see or photograph sites in Iceland?

I loved Iceland, although I did very little photography there (I just wasn't into it at the time). I spent 4 days in and around Reykjavik - the only city/large town there. It has a lot to offer - charming towns and buildings, volcanic countryside with lots of water, glaciers, hot springs, the original "geysir" where we get our word "geyser" from.
If I remember correctly, Bob Duff had some beautiful lupine scenics from there. Suggest you email him directly.

Daniel Bergmann is considered the premier nature photographer in Iceland. Even though you are not taking a workshop I think you may get some inspiration just from visiting his site.
Thanks everyone for all the info. This site is really great; all you have to do is just ask and the answers will just flow. The images in those links are fabulous. Now I have to convince the family to go. I am sure they will impose 'camera free' periods during the visit but I can live with that (smile).

I'd definitely check some other online sources, maybe starting with this page from Luminous Landscape : Iceland : A Photographer's Paradise
