Bittern at Ridgefield
My daughter and I took a drive up to Ridgefield this past weekend and saw a few interesting birds. I almost missed this bittern but just caught some movement out of the corner of my eye.

Canon 40D ISO 400 f/8 @ 1/250s
Processed in Lightroom/Nik Viveza, mat and frame in Photoshop.

Excellent pose there. Nice and sharp on the eye too. Love the detail in the feathers. Would not mind losing that one crossing branch behind him, but hey, it's nature.

Nice catch.

Hi Ryan, A beautiful portrait image of an elusive and well camouflaged bird, wonderful eye contact and feather detail. Nice job!

Really nice pose of this elusive bird - tough to get them out in the open!

Wonderful capture, how much did you pay him/her to pose like that

Maybe a little wider aperture to blur the backgrond a hair more.

Beautiful closeup with great detail.

The branch is a little distracting. I had to act pretty quick once I saw him, so I didn't adjust my aperture, which may have helped blur it some more.
