Cranes
I've been a little surprised at the lack of sandhill crane images here in the forum this year. Showalter says they peaked just last weekend. There are approximately a bazillion of 'em down here! Come on down!!!

One more. Til morning...

Todd, the Trinity is fantastic -- really enjoying the deep blue contrast and those spectacular birds. In addition, the flattening effect in #2 really emphasizes the density of the cranes... I'm assuming you're speaking of Monte Vista?

Monte Vista indeed.

Good to see you down here - both are excellent, but the 2nd is pure magic. Blowing, golden grass with a crane leaping.. that's a special shot! :toast:

NIce job Todd! Love the simplicity in the first one and that deep blue background, WOW!

The second one is a slightly different comp than most I've seen and it really stands out as well.

I'll ditto Dave on #2. It's very nice!

I very much like that 2nd one. Great work.

Fantastic job on #2.

Great comp on the second image. Will be down there Mon-Tuesday. Don't chase them away!

Well, I'm taking a long look at #1 and thinking how beautiful a shot that is with that cobalt blue sky and the 3 cranes positioned perfectly, and that there are the 3 subjects with 2 mirroring each other and how the 3rd one is different which adds tension, and then... I scroll down to #2  Amazing color, light, and textures! Outstanding images both, TC!

Way to go, Todd. Both capture the essence of the cranes. Majestic in flight; busy, chatty and territorial on ground.

#2 is friggin sweet. :toast:

Great colors in 2 and topped with the one crane launching itself. Nice.

Like Morris, I really like #1 for the reasons he stated. #2 has that crane launching itself above the rest, and the colors are fantastic!
Your 'development' work here and elsewhere is truly second to none, Todd. I'm a huge fan of your talents in the field and behind a monitor.

Hey Todd...both me and Dan are down here right now, but just haven't processed them yet. We are both hitting the road for home tomorrow, but will be at the ponds on the west side of the hwy (just south of the refuge entrance) first thing in the morning. We also ran into Steven Weaver this morning.
BTW, both very nice images, but I really like the second one better....looks like he is taking off in heavy wind.

Wonderful images Todd! The 2nd one is spectacular!! :toast:

Some really fine work here, Todd. I think that first one would make a great poster. I'd love to see a large print of #2 as there is so much going on that draws my eye. And no clouds in either image, wow!

Love that second image with the grasses blowing in the foreground. Just got back from there this afternoon. A lot of fun!

#2 is really nice.
