Which Variable ND Filter

I need to purchase a variable ND filter and was wondering which one you folks would recommend. I am sure you can not go wrong with the Singh-Ray, but at $390-$440 I think it is a bit steep. I see Genus has one priced at $140 and has excellent reviews. If I have to buy the Singh-Ray then so be it; but if I can get the same build quality and results with the Genus then I can put the savings into something else. If anyone has any experience with either of these filters I would appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks,
Ed

I can't speak to the Genus, but I do have the Singh-Ray variable ND & it's the heat. I can basically dial in the shutter speed I want with complete clarity and no color shift or impact due to the filter.

Thanks for the input Wick; much appreciated. I did not think you could go wrong with the Singh-Ray.

I have a few of the Singh Ray filters and love them. They are pricey, no doubt, but I think will last a lifetime if they aren't stepped on or trashed

Like most things in photography you get what you pay for and if you are going to get a lot of use out of the variable ND, I think it is worth the investment. I do not know anything about the Genus brand.

Thanks for your reply, Frank. I have a couple of split graduated NDs from Singh-Ray and I think they are great filters.
