This ancient pictograph of a desert bighorn sheep appears to be keeping watch over an extremely well preserved set of Anasazi ruins deep in the backcountry of Cedar Mesa, Utah.
There's little that compares to sitting out here for long periods of time, with only the cries of ravens echoing in the canyons to dispel the total silence, and pondering the lives of these ancient peoples.
Taken last Sunday and blending two exposures for optimum DOF.

I can think of no one other than you who would compose the elements in this image so perfectly. Incredible!

The inclusion of the pictograph takes a very good image and makes it outstanding. Very nice!
Absolutely stellar shot, John! You make the arrangement of all the elements look inevitable, but I certainly don't imagine it was an easy comp in the field. I might consider taking just a little off the left so the masonry in the far wall runs to the edge of the frame. Or maybe not, it's certainly awesome as is.
