I'm looking at some new Apple Products and just wanted to remind my fellow NPNers that Apple does give discounts to students as well as government employees (military included - even retired military).
The discounts aren't huge - but they're a nice bonus on the big ticket items. Examples:
21" iMac $1150 (instead of $1199)
Mac Mini $650 (instead of $699)
Mac Pro $2299 (instead of $2249)
So if you fit into one of these categories - make sure you're take advantage, it saved me $100 when I purchased my iMac!
Also, refurbished items are always a nice alternative to brand new as they come with the same warranty (to the best of my knowledge) and usually have a $50-100 discount associated with them. I know several people with refurbished Apple gear and they've never encountered a problem
You can get even better discounts if you sign up to be an Apple Student Developer ($100). Then you get a once per lifetime 20% discount on as much stuff as you can put on your credit card.

They also give a 5% discount to businesses if you set up a business "account" with them. You have to fill out a form, very quick and easy.
