Monte Vista Cranes
Spent Monday & Tuesday trying out Canon's new 70-300 L lens with Kenko pro 1.4 tele. Liked it alot for flight shots mounted to a 1D MKIII.

They're all really nice and #2 and #3 really stand out. Nice work!

I also like 'em all, with special kudos for #'s 2 & 3. Did you use the TC on all of these?
#1 looks a bit soft and could use a Levels adjustment (white point).

John- I did use the tele on all of the shots. I agree with you on the softness on image # 1 of the JPEG file, although it does not look soft on my monitor at full resolution?? I did a minor sharpening in LR3 and did not run thru PS for sharpening. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for looking.

After resizing images for posting here (720 px @ 300kb), they usually need another small dose of sharpening.
If the full res. version looks good, then that's what counts.

Nice set of images Bob. Cool to hear the 70-300 is doing the job....now we just need somenoe to get there hands on the new 200-400 and try that out! To add to John's suggestion, (you could very well already know this and forgive me if you do) if I remember right, you are a LR3 user? Do you export to jpeg using LR? If so, there is a check box you can select to sharpen for web. It will re-sharpen the new size on export and save you the extra step in PS. Hope that helps.

Kurt- you are right and I did not use the check box. Will try next time. Thanks.

Great set of images! Like the light and color of the cranes in #3. Very dramatic with the Sangre's in the background.
