I received this email from the Center for Biological Diversity today:
Dear Michael,
Right now, the president may be capitulating to demands to repeal some of our nation's cornerstone air, water and public health protections, including the Clean Air Act. The Associated Press just reported this critical update on President Barack Obama's position, which comes after his previous public pledges to protect clean air and a safe climate.
If the biggest polluters and their allies in Congress get their way, the EPA will be prevented from implementing the Clean Air Act to reduce dangerous carbon dioxide pollution that will permanently alter our climate.
We need your help now. Please take just one minute today to call President Obama at (202) 456-1111. Let him know how important this issue is to you and tell him to do the right thing and stop any and all moves to repeal, weaken or delay the implementation of the Clean Air Act or any other bedrock environmental laws.
That's an idea, but the right thing may be repeal. Maybe unbiased scientific examination would be helpful.

No matter what one believes as to the role of CO2 in global warming, it is clear that controlling those emissions within the US, but not elsewhere throughout the world, could not possibly have a significant impact.
Other than on our standard of living.

sure Peter, but if those nations with the highest standard of living, best able to afford the costs, won't lead, why would anyone else follow?
