I'm a nikon shooter and I really want a tilt shift for doing landscape. I'm debating on either getting a nikon 24mm tilt shift and getting it modified so the tilt and shift are on the same plane. Or, getting an adapter and buying the canon 24mm tilt shift that can switch the tilt shift planes. Anyone do either of those two options, any advice? Should I just get the nikon one?

Hi Stephane, I have a 85mm PCE I use for macro work. I wasn't familiar with canon lens and looked it up before replying. Both nikon and canon lens have separate tilt and shift mechanisms along with the rotating mechanism at base of lens. As for getting this lens modified so both are on same plane, I will leave that answer to someone who may have more experience in that area. Personally I find that my lens hasn't been a problem getting a shot. There is a bit of a learning curve with the lens and I find that sometimes the problem is operator error, especially when I haven't used it in awhile. Hope this helps.

I think I was confused. Can anyone clarify this for me.

Is there any difference in operation between the Nikon 24mm tilt shift and the canon one? I mean mechanically. I was under the impression that there was but by watching some videos I can't see the difference???

Never mind, just figured it out. I'll just get it modified...

Anyone use this lens on a D300s?

Stephane,
If you want it for those classic near-far wide landscapes, it will not be wide enough on your d300 and honestly I don't think it is a good focal length for your camera. I have used both the Nikon and Canon, both are super sharp (newer versions) and mechanics are similar, but only on full frame cameras. I have used the 80mm on a d300 for tele landscapes and macro, its also great.
Hope that helps,
Carl

Thanks Carl,

I know it won't be the ideal focal length for my D300S, I just want to know how the controls on it are. I heard the flash housing gets in the way. As soon as the D800 comes out I'm getting it. Just trying to spread out the big purchases.
