Spent the night at a remote location near Canyonlands awaiting the sunrise to light up a couple of monoliths to my west. Turned around to see the position of the sun and saw this glorious sight.
Scrambled to get a good 'grab shot' composition before the light faded, and made it just in time.
The clouds defeated my original plan, but I made it home with a nice consolation.
During one of the busiest months of the year in SE Utah, I had this place all to myself.
As an aside, the winds were just screaming all night and into the morning. I felt bad for all the tent campers throughout the region.
Two image blend, and a 'desert solitaire' musical performance by Porcupine Tree (..thanks again, Todd! )
Paraphrasing (for the millionth time!) something I heard Dewitt Jones say many years ago, if you go out to shoot monoliths one day and Mother Nature's doing sun rays that day, by all means, shoot sun rays! Very cool shot, John. But the question remains...Which PT? (If I didn't send you their acid trip opus, "Voyage 34 - The Complete Trip," which is a bit of a new, belated discovery for me, let me know. It will blow you away, and it's perfect mood music for what we do.)
