I know Todd wasnt around, since i made fresh tracks through the 3-4 inches of snow up Rampart Range this morning. I underestimated how long it would take to drive that windy steep road with 2WD, so i fell a bit short of my planned destination (the infamous overlooks) but it it was such an amazing sunrise i didnt care. Here's Pikes Peak before sunrise, the clouds were there--i knew it would be good!
2) Like i said--i knew it would be good! And no photographers around either--it was blissfully peaceful up there, although the winds were quite biting!
10) Lastly, one of the Garden. Not enough snow for it to be epic, but still a lot better than most of this Winter. Capped off the morn with an epic burger at the Famous Steakhouse on Tejon (biggest, yes...best? debatable...)
Wow, that's just a great series, Stan! I really like the light and color in #'s 1 and 2. Those are fairly extraordinary. The others are well done, well except for the boyds, and the color contrast in #10 is killer.
Nice set of images Stan! If I still lived nearer to the area I might have definitely considered going up there with the (rare this year) new snow. Alas, I wasn't quite in the mood to drive there early, early this morning from Loveland, NoCO.
#2 takes the cake for me (the color, clouds and viewpoint are all wonderful) but I'm also a fan of the unique perspective of #6 and the B&W conversion on #4. Great collection.
I saw this sunrise this morning and hoped someone captured it. nothing stunning in terms of cloud build-up, but man did it glow pink on the mountains. #1 & #2 are great captures of that.

I almost joined you. I had to get my son to school and get to work but I was kicking myself as I brushed the 4" of fluffy powder off the 4Runner and watch the clouds atop PP start to glow red. I'm glad you caught it, I figured it would be good! Love the color in #2.

Stan, glad you got some white dust to go with the winds. Both 1&2 are the nicest of the set, imo.
#'s 1 & 2 were wll worth struggling up that road to capture! Nice work.
When are you gonna break down and get a 4WD?

Gotta leave something for the rest of you, don't I? Had my alarm set for 5, but given how fast it all cleared out, I figured the clouds would be a distant memory. I figured the alpenglow would be good, but not as great as what you captured. And that one with the view looking SE? Holy cow! I can't remember when I've seen the air scrubbed clean so thoroughly!
Thanks, folks!
Todd--you were actually smart to blow it off--i figured i was done too even before i left, but i was already committed to go up there if only to see the snow. There were zero clouds about an hour before sunrise, but 30 min before it started building over PP, and it only lasted an hour or so. Just lucked out (for a change).

Stan - this is a wonderful collection. I really like #1 and #6. The soft pastel colors in each of these are really appealing and I really like the compositions. Nice work!

Probably going to cause Todd to live up there for a couple of weeks so he can keep up.......
