I thought I would share some more bobcat pictures from another encounter we had in the desert behind our place. We live next to a major wash that runs from the south Tucson mountains all the way up northwest to the base of the Catalina mountains. We have had much more bobcat activity this year compared to last year and I have started to submit my images to the University of Arizona Wild Cat Research Project. Just in the last 3 months we have identified and photographed six different bobcats in the desert behind our place. I was talking to a neighbor down the street and she told me that she got up one morning to find a bobcat curled up and sleeping on her back porch. It is amazing to me that these animals have adopted to an urban life and nice to see that they have open pockets of land to use within NW Tucson.

Jim

Wonderful images, Jim. I urge you to spend every minute you can on this. This kind of opportunity ois very rare, and you'll kick yourself if you don't take advantage of it.

I have just started to realize how lucky we are to have an urban animal corridor right outside our back door. I try to walk the property everyday after work since I will not be able to do that once the summer heat arrives. Thank you for the comments, much appreciated.

6 different bobcats in 3 months! super cool Jim, I'm envious too (at least for now--when it's 110 degrees down there I won't be!). but even in the summer if you get out there at sunrise while it's cool, I'll bet you have some good opportunities.
Very nice! I would suggest however, pulling back a bit and show the cat's environment. Don't get me wrong, full frame bobcat photos are fun, but the images that have a real impact are the ones that show animals in their environment. Also, do whatever you can to capture interaction. It is much more difficult to see, but trust me if you can get photos of two cats together, it'll be totally worth it.
