Wedge Issue (updated w/re-post)
Went back out to chase the crescent moon tonight. Here's a shot from Garden of the Gods.

I liked the other one a lot, but I think I might like this one better. Tough call. I liked more of the sky in the other, but this is a cool comp. Can't decide.

I can decide - I like this one better! I love this comp with the moon situated perfectly and the bold lines with deep blues. It's really refreshing to see dramtic images where deep blacks and "negative space" play off of each other so well.

Actually, I think I like this even better than the first one. The wedge was a great idea and the contrast between the blue, black and white is fabulous.

Why do I have to decide?? :)

I like both of them! :toast:

Really nice. Simple and effective.

Although when I saw the title of "wedge issue" I thought it had something to do with a Star Wars X-wing pilot.

This is gorgeous, Todd! I love it.

Both are nice. This second one seems like a bolder image. I think it would be great as a square crop also.

This is awesome Todd. I like it more than the last one as well. It has the same type of dramatic gradient in the sky but the placement of the moon between the silhouetted rocks puts it over the top!

Love this and would love it more with about a third cropped from the top.

Pretty cool--altho i prefer the first one. I wonder if it would have been possible to catch multiple exposures of it on the edge of the rock, so it looks like a ball roling down...

Square, man!

I like the square format much better, great comp.

Another vote for square: sweet!

The first thought that came to my mind when I saw this was 'sensuous'. My only nit was the fact that the sky got so dark near the top that it almost blended in with the rock walls.
Well, the square crop sure took care of that! This is fine art photography and deserves a place in one of your books and/or calendars. Beautiful work, amigo!

Gorgeous!

Oh, MOMMY! Call me a square, 'cause that cropped version is slaying me.

The square crop does it for me, very nice! I love being able to see the dark side of the moon.

Damn, the square one is about as good as it gets!

Very nice! Really like the square crop.

Well, square is better, unfortunately its also bigger, so you can see all the noise in the sky more clearly

Awesome :toast:

Awesome comp! I like the rectangular version better. I know, if you had a Hasselblad the square version would be a winner, but why saddle yourself with a Hassie viewpoint. When I saw Wedge as you title, knowing you I thought I was going to see some kind of Wedgie, lol.

Stan, good point on the noise, I noticed that, too. In defense of the image, I didn't do a shred of noise mitigation on this one before posting, as I did for the one posted before it. This is a super simple fix.

I like the square version. Far out, man!
