I'm part of a project to teach photography to youth in the remote communities in Canada's Northwest Territories. The aim of the project is not simply to teach photography but the hope that in learning a new skill they will go on to investigate other vocations.
The work shown on our site are examples taken from previous workshops with the students ranging from 8 to 20. I'd be particularly interested in hearing of the experiences of others who may be teaching youth in order to improve our program. The calibre of the work these kids turn out never fails to amaze me, despite the high editing ratio.
Good for you! Hope it goes well. I have nil advice. But, great to blend art and education. Let us know how it goes. Cameras are ubiquitous in this day...so many youth are out shooting and posting on internet that they should have a thirst for some tips.
