I just received an add for Adobe CS 5.5! I can't believe how fast the updates come out. I wonder if CS 6 will be out next week:)

Just an FYI that Adobe CS 5.5 includes Photoshop CS5 - there's no Photoshop CS5.5. Adobe has been on a pretty steady 18 month cycle for Photoshop releases, so Photoshop CS6 may come out in October. (You can see all the Photoshop release dates of the past on this Wikipedia page.)
However, along with their recent announcement of monthly rental plans for software, Adobe has also mentioned 24 month cycles for new software, so it's possible that CS6 won't be out until April 2012.

Exactly. This update is geared towards the video-shooting world mostly. Premiere Pro got some very neat new features and an even beefier Mercury Playback Engine so you don't have to pre-render footage on the timeline, and they have pulled SoundBooth out and have finally brought back a new version of Audition which now natively supports Dolby 5.1 and an expanded array of Digital Signal Processing power that's really quite impressive.
What does all of this mean to the nature photographer??
It means you can save your bucks, you ain't missing a thing!
