Another Test Posting
I tried this before & it posted impossibly dark.

Well, I'm at work now, in front of a not calibrated monitor and although this is too dark, it's not impossibly dark. Those two main trees on the left are totally black and show no detail, a few areas on the right are the same.

Yep, it looks "impossibly dark" to me. Thanks.

Based on this and a comment on Rick's image earlier, I suggest you look into monitor calibration Eric. I think your screen is too dark. Monitor calibration is a difficult task but there are resources online that might help. Just to get things started take a look at this tonal chart http://pages.prodigy.net/ecmorris/tips/monitor.htm - see all the boxes? If not, I would pursue getting proper calibration. It's almost impossible for me to know what you are seeing without seeing it myself. This might help quickly give me some idea.

Thanks Marc & BTW congratulations on the ESS gallery selection, it was well-deserved IMHO. I just spyder-calibrated my monitor. Before I did this a lot of my scans were dark on other monitors but looked right on mine. Curiously, my last test posting had been an example of that, but for whatever reason it didn't look so dark on other monitors after I spyder-scanned mine. How could this be? Nothing in the monitor calibration should have touched the image file, but the difference was perceptible (though the image was still arguably a little bit dark). And curiously, this one is still dark, but before I calibrated, it posted so dark that no detail could be seen, anywhere. I don't understand it; while dark, this posting is not as dark as it was before I calibrated. Well, I'm going to enjoy rescanning anyway, it'll keep me out of trouble this summer......

Thanks much for the guidance & keep up the good work.

& now that I've looked at Rick's image on my calibrated monitor, it looks right, it doesn't look dark.......
