I just returned from a 4 day inflatable kayak (IK) trip on the Rogue River in Southern Oregon. We floated the Wild and Scenic section of the river from Almeda Bar to Foster Bar (39 miles total). Luckily we had raft support, so I was able to take the dSLR and tripod. This trip was one of the best wilderness experiences of my life. I was blown away by the rugged beauty of this area. As you float down the Rogue River Canyon it feels like you are going back in time.
It rained most of the trip, but one morning the rain stopped and the sun briefly came out to illuminate the fog and trees in the canyon.
These are my 3 favorite images from that morning. Please let me know which one you like the best and why. Thanks in advance for the feedback.

I like the depth of the first one Scott. It has just the right balance between the more distant third shot and the hidden background of the second. Sounds like a great trip! I'm glad you were able to have the camera along, although it sounds like the weather could have been friendlier.

I like the first one also. For the same reasons as John, plus I just like the composition/line-up of the trees.
Wonderful images from the great trip you took. I really like the 1st and 3rd postings, if I had to choose I think it would be the 1st. I love it's transition back and thru the fog. Well done!
Ditto on first as favorite, and third as second favorite. I like the drama of inconsistent fog in the third, but the first has a more geometric feng shui thing going on.
I'm rafting the Rogue in August....never been there, but this looks promising.

Have to agree with everyone else. The first one is my favorite, for the depth. The third one is a close second. Both are nicely balanced.

#1 is the one I like, although I had a tough time deciding between it and #3. #1 won out because it's well balanced and brings the viewer right into all that fog and forest. #3 presents more of a "grand landscape" type of scene; the viewer is an observer more from afar than actually a participant in the image, if that makes sense. So depending on the "feel" you want, or the client wants, #1 and #3 should work great. #2 is very stately, has a nice pattern but is static.
Thanks for sharing about your trip-- it sounds like a great experience.
