Yet another slow morning for wildlife photography. This is that time of year, you either start finding some gems, or you get shut out. I had bad light again with all the overcast sky and didn't see a whole lot. I felt blessed though to get a couple of decent shots of perching birds. Mostly a Western Meadowlark and a Barn Swallow in my second shot.

Why in the world would you not scream from the rooftops how awesome this kind of light is for this type of photography? These are amazingly stunning, Kurt!

Well, I think you found some gens! I love the Meadowlark.
These are real gems alright, and the lighting looks great to me! The meadowlark image is pretty underexposed (see your histogram).
I feel lucky to be able to see these birds so close up and personal. Thanks for that, Kurt!

Great work here, Kurt! I really like both of these. I'm with John about the Meadowlark image being underexposed.
Hey Kurt- These are great. Wouldn't complain about lighting- no shadows and good saturation of colors.

Holy crap!!! If these were mine I would present my wrist to my adoring fans and say "You may touch me"! You should be seriously pleased with these. That barn swallow is a stock imagers gift from God. Bump up the contrast and brightness a bit on the meadowlark and it's right up there with the swallow.

Kurt,
These are Sweet!!! The bg is great and accents the birds and to have them on something besides a post or half covering sage is something I've never been able to find!
Congrats on your "slow day"

Those are great shots! I wish I had your kind of bad luck.
