Well---I am in the process of ordering a computer from Puget Systems!

After careful research, and expert advice from Puget, I have spec'd out a machine that will meet my imaging needs for a good, long, time.

The build I am ordering is based upon their Obsidian Workstation.

Motherboard: Asus P8H67-M EVO REV 3.0 Micro-ATX
CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K QUAD CORE 3.3GHz 95W
Ram: Kingston 16GB DDR3-1333 (4x4GB)
Video Card: Zotac GeForce GT 430 1GB Silent
Primary Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB SATA 6 Gb/s
Secondary Drive: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB SATA 6 Gb/s
CD / DVD: Asus 24x DVD-RW Lightscribe SATA (black)
Case: Antec Mini P180 (Black)
Power Supply: Antec TruePower 650W Power Supply
CPU Cooling: Scythe Katana 3 CPU Cooler
Keyboard: Microsoft Wired Desktop 600 (Keyboard/Mouse)
Ext. Drive: Western Digital External USB2/SATA 1.0TB Drive with free Automatic Backup and Restore Set-up
OS: Windows 7 Professional: 64-bit OEM SP1

Warranty: Lifetime Labor, 1 Year Parts

I must say that I am extremely pleased with Puget System's customer service! To my mind, this is the way customer service should be! Also, their web site is very easy to use, making customizing a machine, contacting them, and saving/updating quotes very easy. :toast:

If you are looking for new box especially for photo work, I heartily encourage you to consider Puget Systems.

I am really looking forward to having an up-to-date, fast machine!

Puget sounds like the way to go! I saw Jim's post about Puget a month or so ago. Was there a group buy event scheduled or will there be one in the near future?

congrats on the new computer PB!. I myself am on a legacy mac from 2003 and will hopefully be upgrading to the "state of the art" as well by the fall.

Update 5/5:

I have to give Puget Systems a big kudo, here, for their attention to detail. During load testing they found that the motherboard was causing lockups. They had a board in stock, replaced it and then re-ran all the tests. The machine has passed those tests, and is now in QC testing.

Even though shipment has been delayed, I am very happy that they found and corrected the problem, and re-ran all the tests. They have been in contact with me via e-mail, and have kept my build order updated on their web site.

I am confident that I'll have a great computer, with no trial cr*pware, that works right out of the box. A big toast to Puget Systems! :toast:
