I'm confused about the timing for the Weekly Picks. I've asked Jim and then two of the Moderators in the last couple months, but have not gotten any reply.
When does the "week" run? I thought it was from Sunday am right after midnight to the following Saturday at midnight.
The WP announcement this week says, for instance, "WP's for the week of April 17-23" which is Sunday (17th) through Saturday (23th) .
However, Not all WP's this week were even posted during this time period. Of 3 images posted on the same Saturday afternoon, two won WP's in different Galleries last week, and the third won a WP in this week. Doesn't make sense to me.
So I'm wondering exactly when the week is. THis isn't the first time an image won that was entered for a previous week, so maybe my understanding is incorrect.
Can someone help me understand this? It would help if we were all on the same page here.

You are correct in that the week goes from Sunday - Saturday. Mods make there picks and send to Jim/Donna and they post by Tues or Wed. So far in my experience they have always caught and unqualified pick; for example, outside of that week's window.
But your message is somewhat confusing itself. I only see 1 pick this week, the EPJ image by Barbara that was posted outside this past week. Image posted 4/16, week started 4/17. Looking closer though, the image posted at 9:35pm PST, which is Saturday evening for us on the left coast. On the East coast, EST, that's 12:35AM on the 17th. Technically with some wiggle room, I can see this squeezing in for that week. And considering the low volume in EPJ, almost makes sense.
The other part of your message... The other two images you referenced posted on 4/16, I don't see them listed as winners in any other week. I'm looking and maybe missing something, but I don't see them. Even Donna's messages from the last two weeks don't have any repeats.

In the end, I only see one discrepancy and that one is iffy considering the time zone considerations.
Lon, re The 3 entries I mentioned, I meant that 2 entered on 4/16 won for last week, and one entered 4/16 won for this week. That seemed very confusing, but now see the time difference between the coasts. With entries from the other side of the world, then, there could be 12 hours difference or more in timing.
Maybe the rules should be clarified to state "12 midnight EST" or something, so we all have the same understanding ?

WP week = Sunday 12:00 AM EST through Saturday, 11:59 PM EST. We use the EST time zone because that is the zone where NPN is based.
All the WP selections look correct in this regard.
