When I open in RAW I can see that there is already some sharpening applied to the file. Do I move all of the sliders to the left in order to cancel this sharpening, then do all sharpening at the end of the workflow? Then how do I sharpen at the end of the process?
I’m sure there are other considerations as well. Could someone point me to a start to finish workflow for posting on this site?
Here is a photo that only has some sharpening done in RAW.
I found this Sharpening write up and will try it but I’m still wondering if I need to cancel the sharpening in RAW before opening in Photoshop.

I always disable the sharpening in ACR as it should be the final step in your processing, not amongst your first.
I like the tutorial that you found because it mentions the Edit->Fade command, which is an important step, IMO.
This is quite a pretty scene you captured! You might consider cropping down from the top to just above the anvil shaped cloud center right.
That's because part of the cloud near the upper right corner is overexposed. although you may be able to rescue that using the Recovery slider in ACR.
Thanks for chiming in. You help a lot of people around here and it does not go unnoticed.
OK, I’ll cancel the sharpening that is automatically applied in ACR and do all sharpening at the last step before converting the PSD to JPG. Sharpening will be done while reducing the size of the PSD file.
Thanks for commenting on the photo. Since this is a two exposure blend with the sky exposure originally under exposed, I simply go back to the sky exposure, adjust then reassemble the photo.

Hi Richard, I'm fairly new to this as well. I used to sharpen first to make my photos look "better", but now it is the last thing I do after sizing the image. Great shot, by the way.
Discussion
8 repliesI would like to start posting some photos on this fine site, but I seem to need help in preparing them.
I use CS5 and my standard workflow starts in camera RAW. I make a few adjustments in RAW before opening in Photoshop.
I did find the write up for
Photoshop Elements http://www.naturephotographers.net/articles0509/dw0509-1.html and it has helped but I still don’t understand the workflow from RAW to final web sharpened jpg.
