The Ridge
Sort of a self portrait of me in the Crazy Mountains.

I broke my arm/back/ribs in a snowboarding accident last week, so all my summer plans are shot, as I won't be able to backpack/hike for six months and will be mostly confined to this bed for the next two. That along with a car wreck and torn meniscus in my left knee hasn't made for a very good couple months. At least I'm hoping to get caught up with all my processing and organizing of photos of which I am unbelievably behind on. Hopefully I can get started on that in the next couple weeks when I'm able to sit up/in less pain.

This will also be a good opportunity to learn a new way of seeing things, I haven't had to much of a desire to photograph more common sense instead limiting myself to backpacking trips to lesser known areas. I'm looking forward to learning to photograph the more accessible scenes in the area.

anyhow any suggestions on this image would be appreciated, I hope it shows up on here ok, I always have problems with web conversions.

Sorry to hear that man. Hope you recover quickly.. and in the meantime there is plenty to photograph close to home. Pick up a macro lens if you don't already have one for one example. Don't even have to leave your yard for that, not to mention the local botanical gardens.

Bummer!! Hopefully you will heal up faster then the doctor's think. I have a some exploring trips planned this summer after the snow melts out of the mountains. If you are able, you are more then welcome to ride along and see what we find. One trip I have planned is finding a hidden waterfalls that I was told about this winter. I don't do much hiking because of a bad ankle but this waterfalls is suppose to be close to the road.

Hope you heal up quickly Jeremy! Presentation looks great to me, I like the inclusion of the person for the sense of scale and the very textured foreground. Wonderful composition.

Jeremy, praying you'll heal quickly! Boy, I've broken ribs a couple times before and it's NO FUN! Not to mention all the other breaks! Try not to sneeze or cough!!

On the photo, while I like the general composition with the figure for perspective, it seems somewhat muted in color; at least on my monitor. Maybe upping the vibrance control just a bit might help?

pretty shot, sorry to here of your misfortunes--good luck with the rehab!

Ouch! That must have been some tumble. Hope you heal up quickly!! We all look forward to your ID backcountry images.

I like the comp and varied subtle tones. The sky might benefit from just a bit (not too much) more saturation to add a little more pop.

Sorry to hear about your misfortunes, Jeremy. I wish you a speedy recovery. Overall, I like this image, and the inclusion of yourself really adds a sense of scale. It does appear a bit flat and I think a slight boost in midtone contrast and some selective saturation would make it pop. BTW, as far as seeing things differently, checkout http://www.photo.net for some inspiration. They host a much wider range of photographic styles than NPN and I go there often when I'm in an artistic rut.
Best of luck on your recovery.

Jeremy, Beautiful image as always. Sorry to hear about your situation. Hang in there our bodies are wonderfully made and hopefully your healing will come quickly.

Oh man, what a bummer!!! :frown: I hope you recover quickly and fully. Sounds like you've got a good attitude about it. Yeah I would probably pick up a macro lens as well if I were you.. and have fun experimenting!

This is a cool shot... the person in there really makes the shot. That will be you again in no time!

I like the muted colors. Including yourself for scale is great. Too bad the snowfield didn't completely include your silhouette.

I hope your recovery is speedier than estimated. That's a terrible way to catch up on your processing, but at least you have something to keep yourself occupied while confined.

Jeremy, Sorry to hear about the mishap. I always enjoy your work so, perhaps, you can post some old stuff. Do get well very soon and back out there where you belong.
