Since my last post I was determined to take all your advice and ignore the camera gear for at least a week!
Well I'm sorry, but I just couldn't resist this beauty sat on a rock in front of the cottage, so out with the gear and a few quick shots later . . .
1D2, 500 IS, polariser, F10, 1/100th, ISO 200, cropped to portrait, USM and increased saturation.
And it does make a change from our feathered friends!!!
Best wishes
Phil
Nice shot Phil.
Like the way the seals skin matches the mottled pattern of the rock.

Hi Philip
An excellent image, I like the pose and the over-the-shoulder look. And what great mottled patterns on the fur of the seal.
Blimey Phil, come and live in Swindon for a few weeks, I don't usually walk out the front door and find a grey seal perched at the end of the drive
If you have a good seal population, how about trying to build up a portfolio of shots showing the seals on the island. A great subject that you can work on in all light and weather conditions. I think you could have a superb set of images by the end of the year.
Lovely shot. I've seen quite a few of these off the coast of the Highlands, but never had the camera with me at the time! I too must admit to being ever so slightly envious of your location...

I think it is a super seal shot, love the pose, the colour scheme and the position in the frame. Image, on my laptop screen looks a tiny bit soft perhaps. Very good indeed though.

Hi Philiph
Pastel blue skies complement this image nicely. It almost looks as though your Seal is asking if the pose is ok or not.
When you work on your own the only person to give yourself a kick up the backside is yourself, now based on the comments you are getting you shouldnt look back.
