I'll be attending a conference in San Diego from 4/23/06 to 4/28/06. I'm going to fly out on Saturday (4/22) and drive up to Anza-Borrego. I'm staying at the Palm Canyon restort Saturday night and flight lands at 1:00PM. So this gets me Saturday late afternoon/evening and Sunday (4/23)morning and afternoon to photograph. My interest is mammals and birds. Are there particular hot spots for these subjects in the Anzo-Borrego desert? I'll have a rented 4wd SUV but want to restrict the amount of unpaved roads I drive on because it's rented. I would be interested in hooking up with one or more local fellow nature photographers. BTW, I'm from Haymarket, VA (abt. 30 miles west of DC).

Thanks in advance,

Russ: I have spent a lot of time in Anza-Borrego, but being that I photograph the landscape, I'm not much help with mammals and birds. I know of a couple of spots that might guarantee a bighorn sheep sighting, but beyond that....

Definitely make a stop at the visitor center before you set out. They should be able to help you find your subjects.
