It would be nice if the members who post to any forum or gallery would provide the location of the shot. Simply stating, "This is the Smith Mill", or "Windy Sand Dunes" doesn't give enough information as to the location of the shot. The location may be within a few hours or few days drive from some of us - however, it may also be in Italy or Wales and we are in Indiana or Missouri and looking for a good shoot location. Just a few more key strokes will give us more information.
I think it is more appropriate if the choice of disclosing the location is left to the person posting the image. In many cases I have noticed that photographers don't want to disclose the location and I respect their decision.
Anil - I don't think Merle is referring to people who would rather not disclose a particular location. That's their right for their own reasons. I think it's more about people who are trying to share the location, but don't give enough info. I've seen XXX National Park listed and looked up a bunch of them to figure out where they really were. That's easy with NPs. With other locations, though, it's a lot harder and it would be nice to have more info.
Thank you David & Wick. That was my point exactly. If someone wants to keep a location private to avoid the hordes descending on them - I understand. However, most locations in the posted shots are not secret locations but quite out in the open to the general public and it would be nice to know where they are.
I totally agree Merle. Especially since there are so many photos from outside of the U.S., it is very interesting to know what country the poster to talking about when he/she states a location.

You can always leave a nice comment/critique on a particular image of interest, and in your comment ask the photographer for the location.
