APO telescope vs. Nikon Telephoto

Knowing that APO refractor telescopes have a fixed aperture how would one of these telescopes compare in photographic quality with a Nikon or Cannon 600mm telephoto lens?

If you're thinking of using it for 'land' use.. consider that actually truly nailing focus on say, a bird, without AF or live view for manual focus (which takes time) is really hard.
