Great Sand Dunes in the Morning
After that spectacular sunset (see other post) I came back the next morning to see if there were some nice shadows on the dunes.

Beautiful shadows! Some odd halo-looking thing on top of the ridge tho :wavey:

I sure like the telephoto perspective, but that Sangres image was a hard act to follow.
Would love to have seen an image from here right at sunrise.

John, because there are mountains to the east of the dunes, the sun has to be fairly high in the sky before its rays can clear the tops of those nearby peaks.

Stan, you're right about the halo. I need to rework this one on my desktop when I get home.
