CS4 Settings Question

Or at least I think it is...I'm having a problem with my raw files showing up darker in CS4 than they are in camera and in the bridge. Is there a setting I need to change to correct this? I've already calibrated my monitor and still have the same problem. Any help would be appreciated, since I don't enjoy overexposing photos just so they'll show up right in CS4.

Cristina,

If your monitor is calibrated, then you need to trust the ACR image, and to verify that, make a print where photoshop manages the printer. First, forget the LCD on your camera, that is not accurate. When you shoot RAW only, the camera still creates a jpeg to display in the LCD, and if you have any Picture Styles (if it's a Canon, or whatever the Nikon or Sony preset is called), they affect what you see in the LCD.

As far as Bridge goes, I'm still trying to figure out Bridge and the Auto-Magic settings it applies to be able to display the image to you. I do notice that in Bridge CS5, my images are brighter and more saturated, but I just ignore that because once I make changes in ACR, that's what Photoshop dumps into the editor.

Having said all that, if you are having insanely huge differences in luminance, write back with screen shots so we can help you further. Important stuff to know: what camera you shoot, what ACR version you are using (it'll say up in the title bar), and what platform you're on (Mac or Winderz). The BIGGIE is that you need to compare the histogram in-camera with the Histogram in ACR. If they are close, your ACR is fine, your monitor is fine, and just ignore Bridge. In the meantime I'll research settings for Bridge to see what it's doing. I might even (GULP) read the Adobe manual.

Thanks!
