I'm like you, Larry. I used to go out when the weather was right for tornadoes to try and get shots of one. Then in December, after one came and destroyed my neighborhood, I don't care to see one anymore. Maybe someday, but not yet.
I understand, Tony, and I don't mean to belittle the power of tornadoes. I've basically lived in Kansas all my life and never really witnessed a full-blown tornado--at a distance. Been in few blows but only shingles etc.
Home destruction... very sorry but glad you're around to write and still take photos of those things you wish to portray.
Forgive me for not being more considerate of those who might have suffered as you have.
There's nothing to forgive you for, Larry, you said nothing wrong. I was wondering myself why there wasn't more shots of violent weather, especially of tornadoes, since we've had so many lately. It seems here in Arkansas, they always come at night, so it's hard to see one. 2 out of the last 3 nights at work we all had to go to the tornado shelter because of tornadoes on the ground, Sunday at 9 pm, and last night at 10 pm.

3 repliesI like to photograph storms and had my camera ready but everything was south of me.
Did anyone else try?
If so, I would like to see some of the photo--he actual storm, not necessarily the devastation.
Volcanoes, hurricanes, lightning and tornadoes are some of nature's most violent and humbling manifestations.
And earthquakes with tsunami.
Prayers for those in Joplin...
and now for those in Oklahoma City area...
