I am planning a trip to the Palouse next month. In the past I have heard that the first half of June is the best time, but we have had such a cold, wet spring I was wondering if later might be better. Anybody been out there recently or heard anything?

I was shooting at Steptoe about 10 days ago. There was a nice mix of green and land under cultivation. I had nice light at sunset of the first day and a beautiful fog the next morning. It was my first time there, so how much "better" it gets, I can't help with, but I was delighted with the conditions in mid-May.

I was in Palouse 4 days ago and I would say colors are at their best right about now...nice greens, browns, yellows, some reds. Steptoe Butte was awesome.

Thanks, for the information. It turns out I cannot go until the 19th so I hope it stays as good as you describe.
