Last night I drove into the Colorado National Monument about an hour before sunset. It looked like things were setting up for a fantastic sunset - or so I hoped. I found what looked like a really interesting composition, looking north from near the ledge I was on. Now all I had to do was wait for the best light. Well, the rain got there first and man,it started raining pretty good. I waited until I was about soaked and ready to give up. I turned around to leave and this is what I saw. Without time to really set up much I snapped a couple of shots, got the camera drenched, and then slogged back to the car. It's not the shot I wanted, I'll get that one next time maybe, but it's kind of interesting anyway.
Wow! "Kind of interesting", indeed!
A bit more 'darkroom' work could make this a premiere image in your portfolio, Russ. I'd be plumb thrilled to have captured this one.
Oh wow. I have to admit I'm a sucker for rainbows, and this one is great. The foreground detail is great, and I love the entry point at the bottom center right. With a little more darkroom magic you could probably bring out the second rainbow a little more - barely perceptible but there none the less.
Yeah, I'd say you did okay! This is gorgeous! When I'm scouting a location, I try not to obsess too much on one specific comp, but to looks for other options in other directions as well. I've been in this situation a fair amount, where the light has other ideas. Nice work taking advantage of this on the fly.
KIND OF INTERESTING???? Wow! That is an incredible image. Look at that wonderful reflection off the rock on the right. The rainbow is like nothing I have ever seen. Enter this in competitions and get ready to heft some trophies.

Perseverance pays off! Text book rainbow and altogether a beautiful shot. Way to hang in there.
