My mini version of the watchman
Taken north of Fort Collins...suggestions?

Nice sky, river, and comp, David, but there's not much in the landscape that holds my interest. I think if you had better light on the cliffs, or could separate the river from the landscape (tonally or colorwise) this would be much improved.

It's a very pretty stream, and the lines of the water and the cliffs work for me. The sky is great too. I'd look at dodging the foreground generally, and especially the highlights in the water to draw the eye more to the stream at lower left and counterbalance the bright skies at top right.

Good sunset color and comp works but it looks a little soft...can you sharpen it some?

Eerily similar, isn't it? Just not as grand. Lovely color, nice comp and light. I think the sky is just right, but maybe a little more work to make the foreground and middle ground come alive some more? And David, your work is of a quality good enough that we could all use more comments from you. I'm not calling you out at all, but just encouraging you to put your qualified eye to good use.

Hi David - I really like the curve of the river and the sky in this one, David. I generally agree that some additional processing could help make this image more compelling (things like bringing out the reflections in the river and adding some more contrast to the landscape). finding this close to Ft. Collins is great - looks like a great place to return to in different conditions.

Nice sky, bends in the stream and converging lines of steam and ridges. The sky looks fine, but the rest seems flat to me, maybe needing some levels and local contrast adjustments

I agree with the others (in particular, Morris' last couple of sentences  ).
This is a striking composition, and with some judicious 'development' of the land features, this could be a real stunner.

Thank you all, I really struggled with this one but learned a lot along the way. I think it's much closer to what I envisioned. Morris, thank you for the kind words and calling me out  I will start commenting on others work more
