If you have the gear lying around

Responding to the post below reminded me of something I ran across a couple of weeks ago.

Can you place a Canon extension tube on the current digital Rebel? I was trying to do this to a friend's camera to demonstrate how it works and it didn't seem to fit. I thought it should fit but there didn't seem to be enough space in the body to make it work. A couple of us tried as well (all Canon shooters). Odd, because in the last 10 years, I neven had a problem with any other Canon body.

Just wondering.

That sounds really odd. The EF mount is the same on the Rebel as any other current Canon digital body. When you say there didn't seem to be enough space in the body, I'm not sure what you mean. Depth into the body? My Canon extension tubes mounting flange look exactly like the rest of my lenses so I'm a bit confused.

Actually, I was a bit confused myself.

It looked like the extension tube was hitting something just inside the body of the camera - not enough depth into the body. I couldn't figure out any immediate reason as to why I couldn't fit the extension tube on the camera. You are right about the mount. It should be identical - I was just wondering if anyone else had tried a digital Rebel/Canon Extension tube combo.

I do have the gear lying around. Canon Extension Tube EF25 II fits on a Rebel T1i, no problem.

Thanks - I'll try to get my hands on that particular camera again. Something wasn't right.
