Moab and Zion & I Hope It Finally Works
I have been baffled by my inability to post pictures to the forum. Well, here goes. I deleted all the cookies in IE and went back to IE 8 from IE 9. Anyway, let's see what happens.

It was nice meeting many of you in Moab and thanks Bret for putting the fling together.

The first image is of The Fiery Furnace, a sunset shot.

Yahoo! It worked. Do not download IE-9 would be my recommendation.
Okay, here is a primrose from Negro Bill Canyon. Bob Karcz and I traveled together to Moab and to Zion. We decided on this hike because we both had hiked it before and liked it. Bob got a sensational shot of a canyon wall reflection in the creek.

On to Zion National Park. The heavy rain made for some wonderful, seasonal waterfalls. This one was photographed at dusk. The next day it was gone.

One of my favorite flowers is the beavertail cactus. There were quite a few BTs in bloom in Zion when we were there.

The old Watchman was nice after the storm began to clear. This was a morning shot from the bridge across the Virgin River.

It all gets PG rated here. This tom turkey was very much in love and was doing his best to interest the single hen with him. She totally ignored the poor guy. (Guys, I think we all know how that feels, eh?) Bob and I both had on our long lenses but we were able to move slowly and get within about 15 to 20 yards of the tom. Tourists with point-and-shoots would walk up and spook him now and then but once they left he was back in business with his lady. One look at that old boys face and you can see why the hen would be indifferent.

Finally, thank you Harold Ankney for your advice and instructions on cookies. I did as you suggested and also uninstalled IE-9. I'm not sure which fix did it. I didn't like IE-9 anyway. I'm back in business.

Those are all excellent comps, Rod! You know I'm going to like the flower shots a lot! That Beavertail blossom shot is fantastic! And so are the clouds draped around the Watchman. :toast:

I really like the Beavertail shot although it and the turkey could both use some sharpening. I love the clouds on The Watchman.

Another excellent series here!
I think that #1 could use that 'Image Polish' technique using the Unsharp Mask tool in PS to really make it 'pop'.
The flower images and the Zion waterfall are both spectacular! A bit of 'Image Polish' on those falls really makes it 'pop', too.
The turkey is just plain cool. Great catch!
Glad you (and Harold) were able to overcome your difficulties in posting here. Otherwise, we wouldn't have had the chance to see this fine work.

I'm glad you were able to post these! I love the beavertail cactus flower the best! The waterfall and tom turkey are a close second for me. The waterdrops are awesome to see on a cactus at any time!

Nice! I really like the flower shots. The bg in the watchman shot has some issues... :wavey:

Hi Rod - great to see these images from your trip. I love the cactus flower - the water drops add a lot to that image. I also like the Zion waterfall image a lot. I was there after a big rainstorm in March and it was a magical place as you mention. Finally, I think the first image has a lot of potential with a bit more processing as John suggests. I like the composition and light but think that some additional contract could make this pop. Nice series!
