Irises at Hudson Garden
I went to check out the irises at Hudson Garden in South Denver and was not disappointed! They have a great display and there are still many left to bloom! Here are a few from the day. Nothing earth-shattering, but the variety is pretty amazing. There were at least 30 varieties blooming!

These are all beautiful Anne! I stumbled on a display from my local iris society last weekend, and the array of varieties was really something. You do a good job of capturing all those colors and patterns and shapes.

Very beautiful images Anne. Iris's are hard to capture and you did a nice job with these!

Beautiful work, Anne.

Lovely series, Anne. I especially love the close-ins of the last 3. Just curious, did they hassle you over your photo gear? (I checked the website and found they charge an extra fee for professional photographers)

Very nice Anne. Like the way you filled the frame.

The purple ones blow me away Anne. Great shots all of them and a nice suggestion. My old pal Dave and I will have to get down there to the gardens this week.

Thanks for the comments everyone!
Paul, I've never had an issue there, but I normally don't use my tripod (sad confession of my macro work!). There aren't many staff members on site other than those coordinating weddings so I don't feel they patrol very much. The Denver Botanical Gardens allows tripods and have wider display areas making tripod setup easier. I am thinking of heading over there today since the light is nicely diffused!
Rod, there wasn't much at Hudson outside of the irises, but that long display bed was worth the trip for me!

These are simply breathtaking, Anne. Nobody photographs flowers as well as you do. And without a tripod!
Now having said that, you might consider darkening the background of #1 a tad bit to put even more emphasis on the flower petals. Looks to me like the background was brightened in postprocess.

Thank you so much for sharing these here. They really brightened my day considerably!

Hi Anne - my favorites are #2, #3, #6, with #6 probably rising to the top of my list. I absolutely love irises - my parents had a big field of them when I was growing up and I have tried to grow them in my own yard with no luck. Maybe I will need to head to a garden with you and you can teach me how to shoot images like this. :)

These all look great Anne. I also visited here yesterday and had a blast. One advice I can give is to play around with some opened up apertures to get a bit more DoF. Macro work is the one area where you can really have a lot of fun with more of a narrow DoF. Looking forward to seeing more of your macro work.

Anne, quite nice, especially 3&5. I like how you have angled them through the frame.
