Eastern Oregon Border
Taken along the way back from the Tetons, we stopped for one last sunset. This is about all I could grab with the surroundings I was left with.

I always like when the sun starts to set, the lower clouds pick up that colored glow. I have seen this during my life and it brings back the memories of standing somewhere out of doors, and witnessing it in person. FG and MG are the right tones for the sky.

Rick, there seems to be too much of the large cloud in the frame for my liking. The landscape seem to dissipate in my vision as a result of the cloud. A crop of the top seems to yield a much nicer image IMO.

I agree with Jim and AJ's comments. I would crop almost the entirety of the dark cloud to where you have roughly a 3:2 ratio. I think the FG works well here.

Thanks for the constructive comments. I know this also seems a tad flat..but the lighting matches what I remember. I was fearful of cropping out that cloud because I thought it was an interesting element...but now I see that the landscape gets overshadowed by the square crop.

That was a cool looking cloud though. Save it for some other picture in Photoshop? I know the composition wouldn't be right but if you cropped it with the landscape in the middle of the picture it would keep the bottom of the dark cloud with most of the orange in the frame.
