It really is. I didn't realize we were running out of challenge themes - it's a good thing NPN members are here to keep me on my toes. (Can I still insist that I'm new to this, or is it time to admit that I should have known better?) So I gathered up the theme suggestions people had mailed in and sent them to Jim and Donna last week. They got them up there, and now we're ready for the next couple of months.

Weekly Challenge #485 (05/29/11 - 06/04/11) Like a Sore Thumb - Submitted by Steve Balke. Images where the subject of the image “sticks out like a sore thumb” from its background. This can include cases where this is accomplished by camera techniques or by post processing to overcome a really busy background.
I can't wait to see what you guys do with this one. I think it sounds like awesome fun! Thanks for the great idea, Steve!
Thanks, Varina! I have a question for you and/or Steve: The "sore thumb" part, does that imply that the subject should look odd the way it stands out, or just stand out extra well? If you have no idea what I mean let me know. ;)
"Challenging"? Hmmmmm. After Stan "the man", Varina is a sweety and I hope she takes my friendly kidding the way I meant it. She was a great choice, Jim.

Barbara - I think you can interpret the theme either way. I am finding that one of the most interesting aspects of moderating the WC gallery is seeing how each person interprets the theme differently. It's an interesting glimpse at the working of people's minds... and it reminds me to expand my own ideas. I hope that everyone else enjoys that part of it too.
And Charlie... don't worry. I have six siblings. I can take a joke. No thin skin here. Without some thick skin, I wouldnt have survived my childhood. But thanks for calling me a sweety!
