Nice comp but would like to see a wider angle of view. The thing that strikes me most about this falls is the vertical basalt columns that decorate not only both sides of the falls but also the chamber behind that holds the upstream pool and falls. For me, they are so striking that the waterfall portion is almost secondary in importance. That said, I still like this comp too.
The base and bottom 25% of the falls does appear to be blown out on my monitor. Do you have some other views of this gorgeous falls or does the nearby topography limit your choices? I've never been there, but I've seen a number of images from there and most all of them are from the same viewpoint.
Thanks for the feedback Don. I do have a wider pano I will post up after work, and I'll check the blown highlights. Yes the shot selection is very limited, there is one overlook and its built in a very steep area.
My thoughts would be pretty much the same as Don's. I'd also like to see more of that tree, it's a pretty nice one if memory serves. Quite a few years since I was there, but I only remember the one reasonable viewpoint.
I like the composition, but am not so fond of the overexposed water and the harsh contrast. I wonder if a touch of that Orton effect might add something here.
Thanks everyone for the feedback. I know my PP is one of the areas I need help in, so the input is greatly appreciated. Here's a rework of the shot. Pretty much all different work flow, so let me know how I messed this one up.
