I recently picked up a 1D that is only 5 months old, like new, and works beautifully, except for one function. When you press the + button to focus in on the image it does just that right down to the pixel; but if you select the - button to zoom back out, it just clears the screen; gone! blank! nanda! I checked every function in the menus and couldn't find anything that pertains to the functioning of the - button. I feel it's such a simple issue to fix. Does anyone who knows the 1D better than me at this point have any suggestions? It's not that big a deal it's just irritating and I'd like to fix it, or take it in to Canon to fix.
This happens with my 5DII, Garry. Didn't used to occur with my older Canon DSLRs.
Anyway, I think it's inherent with the camera. Irritating indeed, but nothing that can be fixed.

I took it too the Canon service centre nearby and dahh! the customer service rep said just use the function in the camera to "re-set" camera functions. I did and it now works as it should. Why do we always tend to over-complicate a simple solution
