Here's another (I have four or five I'll post) taken with the borrowed long lens (this one at 300mm, or 450mm equivalent). I have hardly dabbled in BW in the past, so would _love_ some feedback on this one. All comments appreciated, especially from you BW experts.
Mmmm, I like it. Nice and moody.Still enough detail in the dark areas, but might it print up a little dark? Not sure. Be interested in what others have to say, too. Great shot, John.
Interesting. I've been playing with why this looks darker and more blocked up in the shadows, and it turns out that it's the difference in viewing the file in Photoshop vs. Firefox. I've experienced this before in color photos, but didn't think about it for BW. Here's an edit taking that into account, a little closer to what the photo looks like when viewed in Photoshop.
John,..... looking at an image like this vs what the print must look like is almost a crime.... This is a great shot---I like the repost

I think you did a great job with the b/w conversion here John. The composition is very nice and I like the depth that is created by the rocks and fog. My only nit is that I think the image may benefit from a little bit more contrast in the mid tones. The mids seem to be coming through a little too gray for me and I would like to see more contrast there.
