Trail Ridge Road
As of last night, Trail Ridge Road was still closed. There are rumors flying around as to when they might open it. I think they are still trying to clear the AVC parking lot before they let everyone up there. Last night I hiked up to Rock Cut and spent a wonderfully peaceful sunset up there. The only sounds being the dripping of water from the melting snow and the sound of howling coyotes on the other side of Forest Canyon. I was going to try and get something a bit different but in the end focused on getting a high quality image of this classic scene that I can print really big. Anyway, here are a couple of images from last night.

#2 This is a composite of 10 stitched images with the 5D Mark ii and so can be printed pretty big. The little jpg doesn't do it any justice at all.

All very nice but the last one really stands out for me. I like the layers of color and the feeling of solitude it portrays.

Great set Erik, that last one stands apart from the rest though, love the pastels and the simple composition

Looks well worth the effort hiking up the road. Great series.

More wonderful stuff, Erik. I hope to see the pano in your gallery someday. That looks awesome even in this small jpeg size.

Great series of shots! My favorite is the last one.

Hope Trail Ridge is open by Fri. so we can take the "shortcut" to Estes. I have to be back at work on Mon. so don't think I'll be able to meet you this time out, but I will try to stop in at the gallery and take a look-see at your work sometime while we're there.

That pano shot is really something special Erik. I can't wait to see a large print of that one.

I LOVE #5!! and 3! Have to be honest though, the rock feels uncomfortably close to the horizon in 1&2, just my personal preference (would have preferred it higher up)

I'm enjoying the simplicity of #5 however all of them are nice teasers for what's upcoming in the next few weeks!

As usual, you're always at the right place at the right time.
Beautiful Series!

Excellent work, Erik!
I like #'s 2-5 very, very much. #5 in particular really resonates with me.
The rock wall in the foreground of the first two just seems to be more holistic with the scene in #2, and I love the panoramic crop.

The #2 pano stands out for me.
