The plowing has the road cleared all the way, but there is still huge amounts of snow. No telling when it will finally open. Per the NPS website, they still have to plow turnouts, worry about runoff and there is a big avalanche danger at Olmsted Point.

Check out the snow depth in these photos from last week. Crazy deep a week into June.

Will it be another year without a summer? I just returned from Lone Pine over the weekend. Horseshoe Meadows rd. is still closed. The portal I believe was open, but I did not drive to the top. Just to the Valley View turnout, it was sprinkling there. I would imagine Onion Valley rd. is also closed. Not sure about the Bristlecones. On the NOAA site in the satellite photos the snowpack resembles April not June.

I was thinking of an Owens Valley to Tuolumne Meadow trip this weekend, but since it's nearly 100 degrees in the valley, Yosemite high country sounded good. But, todays report shows Tioga still closed. Damn, I need to go somewhere!
