I was hoping the flowers along West Fork of Oak Creek were blooming, so I took a 2 hour hike up the canyon. Seemed to be about right time as there were some nice yellow and red blooms along the creek. There were some yellow columbines, but the breezes kicked up, so no photos of them were taken. Just sharing the hike and letting anyone know where some blooms are here in northern Arizona.

Doug, I envy you being close to West Fork. Looking forward to being there again in September. Of these images I like #1 but I'm a little bothered by the bright reflection in the lower left. Maybe taking that down a bit would make it my favorite. For this group, though, #4 hits it out of the park for me. Nice set.

I really like that first one as well. Been meaning to get up there as I figured there'd be something blooming, but have been so busy. Hopefully, there'll still be some around when I return to Sedona next weekend.

Bill, the sun was well into the canyon as this was taken 4 hours after sunrise. I hope to go back this week with an earlier start and redo #1 to beat the sun.
Guy, there seemed to be plenty of flower pods yet to bloom, so you should be ok this weekend. On the flat along the trail after the second creek crossing, there were some lupine blooming amongst the bracken fern.

I'm looking forward to seeing #1 done with better light. That's a killer composition and hte flower are gorgeous.
Looks like a great hike, and you got some keepers for your troubles.
My preferences are in the order you posted these. Would like to see #1 without the reflection and a slighty weaker magenta cast.
#4 is particularly impressive with the 'twin' clumps of grass providing a nice lead in to the still waters and that fine canyon wall.
I'm wondering if a second image of #4 with the camera raised a bit and stitched with the view here would reveal more of that wall?
Hope your next trip is just as fun and successful!

Great stuff, Doug! #4 reminds me of the entrance to the Subway at Zion.
