West Fork Blooms-Take 2
Took a spin along the West Fork of the Dolores River on Sunday and was pleasantly surprised to see the lower elevation flowers a'flowerin and the waterfalls a'fallin. Incoming clouds were a great help with the light.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated! As usual, compression has done these no favor. :frown:

Dunton Falls is pretty mediocre at best usually, but the late Spring snowstorms and the rapid rise in temperature gave it some real power on this weekend!

John, as noted, these images come across on my monitor sporting the typical NPN huge "compression killer" limitations. All I can do is dream up a nice sharpened visual of your well thought out, beautiful comp and color. Most of us here at this forum are pretty darn good dreamers! The aweful compression limitations is precisely the reason why I link most of my suff to my site, hosted by Jacks-Widerange Galleries.

Critique-wise, you may have zipped through #3 a bit too fast; there's nice water droplet in the upper right hand of image. Also, on my monitor, the water seems to have a bit of a greenish/blue hue. Possibly a WB thing?

As usual, stunning photos. BTW, I would love to hike with you some day!

Outstanding, John. I agree with Kane about the green tint in the falls, but the comp sure is purty!!! I wasn't aware there was a falls near Dunton, cool!

Thanks for those observations, folks! That's exactly why I post images here.
Take 2 of the falls...

Take 2 is great. It's interesting how the color correction brought out the blue-green areas in the water. They really add to the three dimensional effect.

I like the falls redux, shot angle, and the rounded balcony at the top of the falls.
Thread title caught me for a second

Both iris and lupine shots are nice. Blooms seem to be prime. I think I prefer them just slightly to the falls image.

John, the redo of the waterfall is awesome. Man that Kane is sharp-ey, eh. I also like the pattern created by the wild iris and the aspens in the background. Very nice.

Love the first one. The soft light really brings out the color in the flowers.
