I'm convinced my Canon 100-400mm L needs to be better calibrated for my 7d. I've had a heck of a time taking sharp pictures with it any time I use auto focus, and I used to think it was just the size of the thing, but I'm seeing it on tripod shots too.

Have any of you used LensAlign to micro adjust your autofocus? I know I could use a poster and a yard stick, but I was thinking....hmmm, anyone wanna have a lensalign party?

Here it is if you don't know what I'm talking about:

Marylynne,

Have you checked out the free downloadable AF microadjustment tools at Northlight Images? Very easy for me to setup the test calibration image on my monitor and then adjust the 7D's settings. I've used it on 5 lenses, including the 100-400mm L.

If something like this doesn't make a positive change, then you have to have a recalibration performed by a professional.

Excellent. That looks just as easy and totally free. Thanks!
