Mark,
I am not a big one for flower portraits, but I think this is a very successful image. I agree the variations in the leaves are interesting.

Mark,
That checker board pattern does set this apart from other flower shots. I can't remember ever seeing that before. Maybe a quick clone of the two spots would make it even better.
Nice image Mark!! The checkerboard pattern certainly is an odd one!!
To be honest ever since you brought up the whole 7800 thing I've been looking at the images on the walls in my office here at home and pondering what each would look like at 24x36!!!

That's a good thing, Rick! Life is too short to have to look at small photos!

definitely an interesting pattern, and I like the detail capture overall. other than that though, it's not setting of my emotion alarm. Now if it was coming off that 7800 at 24x36, I might have to change my opinion
Mark,
I am REALLY into this image. The colors and textures are very addicting...if that makes sense.
I think I like the comp a little better with a crop of the empty space just below the yellow...but that's a minor nit.

I think this shot is nice but not great, the comp is pretty standard. I'm happy that it's as sharp as I wanted it to be mainly.
What really interested me was the checkerboard colors in the leaves.
