ID help needed
I was in Montana last week and got some images of a few birds. This one I am unsure of as to species. Anybody know for sure? I am leaning toward Dusky Flycatcher. Again, this was taken in Montana in mid-June. Thanks so much for any help. Ron

Dusky Flycatcher seems right.

I think you're correct:

Nice angle/detail on this little one, and nice habitat.

I've been in email contact with Ron on this: I'm not sure between Hammond's and Dusky. The bill, in particular, is problematic for a Dusky... But I'll defer to Phil and Sandy, who have seen far more Duskys than I have. Empids are tough.

Jim, you sure may be right. Certainly looks more like this fellow, especially the beak, as you noted:

I would have to say after further review this is a Hammond's Flycatcher. I listened to the calls of both species and I do rememeber hearing the Hammod's call, but not the Dusky's. This particular bird did not sing, but there were obviously others around that were singing. Thanks for all the help.

+1 for Hammond's Flycatcher.
